So how has everybody been? I've been blogging on my own website, http://WhatISaid.org/blog I like Vox though, so I am going to try to blog in both places.
But the truth is, I tend to be most active on social networks than on my own blog as of late. In other words, the best way to keep up with what I am doing, thinking, reading, taking pictures of, etc. is by following me on Facebook, Twitter, Friendfeed, etc. Friendfeed actually aggregates ALL my online activity into one feed, so lately that's been the best way to "follow" me as it's sort-of a catch-all for all my various online activities. Friendfeed is great, you should try it.
It's interesting that in the "old days" when the internet was new, everybody had "home page" web sites and those pages linked to various other websites they found interesting or useful. Next came blogs, and now it's social networking sites that are the most popular. NOW, people are going BACK to having Personal Home Pages, but this time those pages have links to their various social network online presences, sort of like a Table of Contents or "jump page". My jump page is here: http://www.MyOtherStuff.net
I finally made a late-birthday, early-christmas, more of a "If-I-Ever-Have-Money-Again wish-list". I'm not sure if it's making me depressed or keeping me hopeful. I have a few art projects that I want to complete and then put online to sell. If any of them bring in any money, maybe I'll treat myself to something on the list. Problem is, I have expensive hobbies (photography, etc.). Well, it's fun to maintain a wish list. Maybe it'll keep me focused on my goals.
The one thing stopping me from making this my main blog... is there
really NO way to add a traffic tracker (statcounter, etc.) to this
blog? If I try to add it to a post it gives errors. There's
no way for me to add that kind of code to a sidebar. I won't use
any blog as a main blog if I can't see who is visiting it, when, etc.
etc. I'd really like to start using this as my main blog... but
not until I can add that and other features (like a flickr badge, a
twitter box, etc.).
I have MANY blogs, too many. One time I had a really popular general blog but I got careless with it and had to start over (long story). Then the new blog never took off. One thing that I learned though is that themed blogs seem to do much better than general blogs. Like, my Pug Blog gets way more traffic than my [now-deleted] general blog did, and my new Art Blog probably gets more traffic than any blog of mine at all.
I like to try new things and you can call me "a joiner" because I sign up for everything to try, whether it's a blogging service, communication service (like twitter.com), social network (like facebook, myspace, etc.) I signed up for vox here, and I really like it. I just today signed up for Tumbr.com to try that out. There are other services that I'd like to check out, but have not yet, such as virb.com, linkedin.com, groovr.com, and many more.
But it's fun. I like to try new things. Also, it helps me to be able to help other people. It's fun to be able to recommend the perfect service to somebody and have them be really happy with it once they sign up.
I'm not sure how I got on this topic... :)
Can you add static html stuff to a vox blog? Like a website tracker. Or a Twitter window. Idunno.
I took down one of many blogs today. Trying to decide what to do. It's like a several-year-long diary for me, but other than that one purpose, nobody really reads it, except possibly one or two people whom I wish didn't.
Hmmmm.
Idunno.
I got peeps today. I also drew peeps lately in my moleskine. It's PEEP SEASON.
